Have you listened to DALI Euphonia MS5's ? Excellent sound speakers and around $15k with the Alpi finish. I had mine bi-amped, with a Mesa Baron (tube amp) driving the mids and tweeters and a MC252 driving the bass. I think they did something better than my XRT1K's.

Haurock,

Glad to see the update. Auditioning the likes of ProAc, PMC, and Sonus Faber; there is no wrong answer. I'm a Sonus guy myself, the McIntosh + Sonus is pure magic. Look forward to hear where you land. I would also consider subwoofers in your budget as well. Happy Hunting!!

No, I have not. This is a line of speakers that I had not heard of. I will do some reading online and learn more about them. Thanks for the input I do appreciate it.

What? Are you trying to get me to part with some of my money to feed Master LU's coffers?

I'm not a fan of a lot of base. I tend to prefer the mids to highs. Which is why the SF really caught my attention. ProAcs are well known for that along with tight base. That is why I was not prepared for the so very different presentation from SF. Thanks for the suggestion, perhaps at some point in the future.

The best combo I've heard so far was Mac and Focal Utopias...

I was not going to post until I read that comment; I think you should give some Magneplanar MG20's a listen - I think they are about 12K these days...

Default Living Voice OBX - RW

Today, I got to listen to the Living Voice OBX-RW. They certainly come extremely well recommended by several hi-fi magazines and are often used in reference systems.

So why am I left rather unimpressed? I really was expecting to hear speakers that would rival what I have been auditioning lately, but both my wife and I were rather unimpressed by what we heard. Perhaps it was the electronics, (Lab47's Humpty's) though I don't think that explains it, since I have always been rather awed by the quality of sound I have heard from my local dealer. He suggested that the perhaps its because he caters more to an analog clientele, than a digital one. I don't know.

In any event I felt these speakers lacked presence. They seemed to have no punch whatsoever. They were rather very good with voices and some acoustic instruments, but blues, jazz and Rock simply sounded 'limp'.

I'd keep my current speakers before buying these. Oh well. I'm just beginning...

Default The D38R's are home

As you probably have been able to see from my signature posts, I have had the D38R's for several weeks now and I am quite pleased with the outcome. After having broken them in and twiddling with their placement I can finally say that the end result has been well worth the wait.

I was also able to get these D38R's for the price of D38's. I sense and feel they are extremely well suited for the MC352 and the C45 and since I know you all are voyeurs out there... here you go!
