Uh Oh - MC207 Blue Meter acting up
Well I guess I jinxed myself posting here so now I need some of the expert advice.
I noticed today at lunch that the right channel meter on my MC207 amp does not move for several minutes when the amp is powered up. Then it will jump into action and act normal until I power the amp down. Repeated twice more with the same results. Output from the speaker sounds normal even with the meter flat lined. Any thoughts? Should I be concerned with using the amp? It's not really a problem yet but I'd hate to be without it for any length of time. My goal was to buy a pair of 802D's for the the fronts and move my 803S's to the rear but a pair of MC501's to keep the 207's spot warm might be calling my name. Jack |

All is well. It seems to have been some dust or something on a contact because it resolved itself in about a week. I was just pondering sending it in for service when it stopped acting up.

my mc207 does the same thing. It is a known issue with this amp. They outsourced a different company for these and This is what we got (at least that is what I was told). I had the right channel meter replaced under warranty and now my left one does not move until it gets a microweld from the amp power(again this is what the shop is telling me) amp is fine to use if you take off the front shroud covering the meters and jiggle the wires that are attached to the meter the meter will work as it should. I am going to try to attach the wires. I wonder if anyone could chime in on what I should use to try and do this?

I've got the same problem with my MA6500. About 85% of the time the left meter does not work. Sometimes it will eventually start working, sometimes not. I can get it to work if I turn off the speakers and quickly turn up the volume to about 3/4 level. Output of the amp is fine, no issues whatsoever, so it is a meter or meter circuit problem. The amp is about 6 years old and it started acting up just as the original warranty ran out. Eventually I'll get it fixed but it isn't something I worry about. As long as the amp works I'm good.
