Default Go big or go home... (8-bay NAS fun)

8x3TB in a RAID6 configuration leaving around ~18TB usable storage, which is enough for, or a combination of, in total bit-perfection:
- 550 Blu-Ray Discs
- 2000 DVDs
- 10,500 Hi-Res Albums
- 32,000 Redbook CDs

Nom.
Nom.
Nom.

Oh yeah, and it barely makes any noise and is blazing fast. I really love my job.

1812 or 1813? This is the same setup I'm thinking about going for in the next month or so.

In your opinion is synology the way to go?

1813+. Synology is the only way to go.

Where'd you get the Reds? Newegg? I've been waiting for a better deal on the 4TB.

Just when I thought my "E" was the Big Guy on the Block, you come out with JACK THE GIANT KILLER.

I am loving my "E" - now with over 200 CD's on it, which is probably like a pebble on a mountain top. If the "E" can be made into virtually unlimited storage, and is bit perfect, plus it copies practically any format, why would anyone even hesitate to get it? The PRICE and E's dedicated guidance made it an easy decision for me.

I have the same drives in my TS-869 PRO.

Why do you like Synology more than QNAP?

Howard.......How do you load CD's to the NAS hard drives? Are you using a ripper program for high speed ripping or is it done in real time?
