Default Has mcintosh fixed the jitter problems with the MS750?

Just wondering if mcintosh has addressed the horrible jitter measurements that were found in the MS750. What does mcintosh change over the escient products that the MS750 is based off of?

I doubt anything changed about jitter. Welcome to AA Steve.

Both the MS-300 and 750 sound pretty average thru their own DAC's but just about everyone here runs them thru an outboard DAC, and there is no noticeable jitter.

For me, jitter sets in after my third Starbucks! My MS300 sounds spectacular running through my MX DACs.

Thanks,
Ron-C

Because I like servers and the interface. I use the CD/SACD transport for critical not everyday listening. I only use laptops for my iPod music.

For those of us who are not familiar with such things, what is considered an acceptable amount of jitter and at what level has jitter been proven to be audible?

The less, the better. At least that's what high end audio manufacturers strive for. I think what Steve is talking about is the stereophile article. "A case of jitters'. Stereophile: A Case of the Jitters

Stereophile: McIntosh MS750 music server
Stereophile: A Case of the Jitters

It is far worse then the most basic CD players and even a PS1.
Wasn't being argumentative, and after reading the article, I think you have a valid question.

But, on the other hand, inaudible is inaudible. Ask lovers of tube amps about distortion measurements and frequency response abberations that measure poorly but are inaudible.

So I was curious about the level of inaudability.

Steve,

I don't think anyone here except for Ron C can speak for Mcintosh but many people have gotten around this issue using a external dac such as the MDA100, MCD500 digital or toslink input or another external dac. I agree for the price, you would expect more and expect that in future music server's they make to be improved upon. I think if you are looking for a alternative use your computer to wifi music to a sonos for $300 and use a external dac or buy a wadia for your ipod.
