Cherry was optional and that cherry is solid 1x3 cherry. You can pay many times what any model of Magneplanar costs and get wood veneer on MDF.

I have 3.7s, but removed them from my signature because I haven't used them since I got the gear below ~7 years ago. I posted somewhere here that I hooked them up, I don't know, 6months to 1 year ago and was very surprised at how poor they sounded across the board to the XRT1ks, not just in the bass which they are deficient in by nature.
There were tiny pieces of tape I had left on the floor where they stood before, so they were positioned exactly where they were before. I was thrilled before; best sound I'd ever heard.

Speaking of bass, the XRT1ks are rated as down only 3dB @16hz.

I used a Supercube Reference sub with the 3.7s. Still have it, collecting dust along with the 3.7s.
