Huh! Am I missing something here? There has not yet been a failed attempt at fixing the problem, just in getting the replacement assembly to the repair center. And it seems that the problem has been positively identified, i.e., it's not a squirrelly intermittent electronics problem.

True,...that's a good enough strategy if the system is restored and there are no other faults imminent.

I just checked, unfortunately this unit is close to a year old; so a new replacement is not an option.

What's really disappointing is to have found that the replacement part broke during shipping, or it was already broken when shipped.

Broken transport?? Sounds strange based on the way they pack equipment. Do they send out replacement parts in a Zip Lock? Sorry to hear this and good luck. Maybe a good time to look at an Aurender as a backup.
