Meridian now compatible with QNAP
Meridian Audio has announced its streaming systems are fully compatible, from 5th August, with selected products from QNAP a leading NAS (network attached storage). Now a music collection can grow almost without limit– with the security of automatic backup and the latest RAID protection against hard-disk failure. At the same time, Meridian is offering a plugin for dBpoweramp’s popular Music Converter and powerful CD Ripper to allow you to easily and quickly import your music collection with precise ripping and conversion, helping you to enjoy all there is to know about your favourite artist, tracks and albums, with album cover art as well. Streaming solutions from Meridian are configurable and expandable to serve high quality audio around the whole house. Controlled from iPad, iPhone, the free Core Control App, or a dedicated touch panel, such as Meridian’s award-winning Control 15, with its 17-inch touchscreen, listeners can enjoy an entire music collection or favourite internet radio stations anywhere, any time at the touch of a button. I doubt I will ever require more than the 1TB I have on my MC-200. I still have about 65%-70% free space.

Did some limited research and the MC200 is the entry point into excellent Hi-resolution audio and when combined with a potentially compatible QNAP server, the storage is super affordable.

You are correct. The MC200 with a QNAP server will make it easier for those interested to buy into a MDMS (aka Sooloos) set-up. A nice interface with virtually unlimited storage for those who require it. |

Yes, I was planning on getting a new pre-amp, AND I already have Sonos and well sourced metadata iTunes library, but the MC200 and Meridian's high resolution options, iPad Control, and intuitive interface really make me question where I am going to put my resources.
I really want to dig down and find out how Focus and Swim compares to Smart Playlists and Genius. Then what level of metadata will I get with out having to manually enter it. Lastly can the Audio Core + a QNAP server accomplish the same thing as a MC200? |

Bill, might I suggest the 818 v1 or v2 (reference preamp with sooloos zone) + MC200? + iPad?
Add a QNAP for storage and backup of the MC200. |

You can also do a 808 V3/V8 + MC200 + IPAD (Stillone has this today)

The AudioCore can connect via SpeakerLink to a Sooloos controller, but you would also need a pair of Meridian speakers or separate amp Nd speakers. The AudioCore is basically a bookshelf preamp that coordinates with the DSP3200. |
