My father’s neighbor had wisteria growing. He made a pavilion covered with it. When it bloomed it was beautiful but twice a year I had to scale a ladder and use gas powered hedge trimmer to keep it from overtaking a side of my dad’s garage. One year I used a chain saw to cut some of the vines. His neighbor encouraged me to do it because hard pruning is a way to increase blooms. Although my father has passed I don’t miss doing that.

Bamboo! Yicks I would never plant that. I’ve heard horror stories about how invasive that can be.

A little stand of bamboo came with my house and I have been fighting it for years. It spreads via underground runners so there's no defeating it, only controlling it. It's a nice plant though--just put it in a pot.

I’ve also heard you can plant it in clay chimney flue pipe buried in the ground.

Anthing that requires me to bend that far down or get on to my knees is a no-go and my garden shows it.

Here are a few pics from the patio area were I removed the trumpet vine last year. The last pic if my favorite spot to rest on a nice sunny day or when it's raining.

Our city organizes a garden walk every other year showcasing certain houses. We try and attend when possible which is this Saturday. It's exciting to see so many different styles of gardens. Anyone else care to share their garden?
