Any recommendations of reasonably priced 6F6? (Not Fivre or Marconi)) There are many to choose from. Metal, 6F6G, 6F6GT. GE, RCA, Hytron, Raytheon, Sylvania, Tung-sol, Ken Rad, more.

I have 5 different brands of 6V6GT tubes but find that they all sound rather similar.

I think you will find similar with the 6f6s. Brand differences are More alike than different. I recommend pairs of metal, Gs, and GTs. Mix and match in your PSE. I am currently running a pair of RCAmetal with Zalytron Gs. Fantastic!

Dunno if this is by design or just pure luck but I managed not to blow up my amp despite my stupidity! Decided to swap out the Ken Rad 6v6 for some of the Sylvania 7c5 tubes I have. Popped them into the adapters, put them in the amp, and then... nothing. They didn't light up at all. Huh, they're duds? I bought them NOS but over a decade ago. Try another pair, same issue. well, those were both from the same batch as the first so maybe all of them are bad? Tried out a set of NOS Sylvania JAN 7c5 and the same thing. Hmm...

Then it hit me. The loctal to octal adapters I have been using are for adapting 7n7 to 6sn7. The pins are probably wired up differently for the 7c5. Doh! Did I fry my amp? I put my 807 tubes back in and everything fired up as expected. Whew! Ordered some 7c5 adapters and will report back...

Doing a quick inventory I found 6 7c5 and 20(!) 14c5 tubes in my stash. Also have some 6v6 and 12v6 in there somewhere. I'll try out the various flavors of 6v tubes in my current amp and plot a future use for the 12v ones. Just read that 6v6 tubes might sound more alike than different. If that's true that takes all the fun out of it! On the other hand, it means they will all sound pretty good so I guess that's a win

71A uses a 5V filament, while a 45 or 2A3 uses a 2.5V filament. Plus, not only does the 71A typically use a lower plate voltage, a single 71A is good for All of 0.8 watt, not enough to really operate most speakers. I built a parallel single ended 71A amp using three 71A output tubes per channel for a whopping total of about 2 wats per channel, but that amp has been mothballed because of a lack of space for creating a necessary modification...

Thanks for your help and reply,

Like you stated it is a low watt tube, but I have heard good things on the sound?
My S10 W15 Lii Audio and Lii Audio F15s dont need a lot of power to get at my desired volume. I guess it is the dog days of summer here in TN doing audio research.
Looing for the next new audio adventure LOL

Oh man, I must have been so blown away by the preamp I didn’t notice that 6v6 amp. Looks great! What on earth are all of those tubes though? I only recognize the 6v6 tubes.

Found what looks like a good deal on a quad of them. Said to be NOS and test strong.

What do you think the max output will be on a PSE? Around 8 wpc? With 6V6 it is around 11-12 wpc.
