Default Pass Labs XP-25

Hello Folks. The itch to replace my phono-pre to a reference level component won't go away. The units I have considered w/o actually a demo in my system:

Manley Steelhead
Allnic H-3000
Aesthetix IO
Pass XP-25

I have read nothing but glowing reviews of this piece (Pass XP-25). It appears to have a very detailed and large soundstage coupled with a warmer tonal balance consistent with tubes, but wihout the bloom/noise ect. The easy & convenient loading adjustments and two inputs are a dream for me. Another arm and cart is in my future as the table allows for two.

Does anyone own one ? Your impressions ? I may pull the trigger today on one. The dealer offers a 15 day in home trial.

My system:

Analog:
Clearaudio Innovation Wood Compact, Universal Arm
Shelter Harmony cart

Pre: Mark Levinson 380S

Amps: Pass Labs XA-100.5
Speakers: Wilson W/P 8

Thanks in advance.

I would add the Audio Research Ref Phono 2 to your list. A very neutral, transparent, and holographic phono. The feedback on this unit is right up there with the best.

Thanks Cyril...your too late. Just pulled the trigger on a 1 month old demo unit at a price I couldn't refuse (XP-25). I get a 14 day in home trial and only have to pay round trip shipping if (and that's a big if) I don't like it. I just feel that this unit offers everything I need w/o the tube care, feeding and rolling of tube models.

I will post my impressions. I paid for overnight shipping so will have the unit to enjoy this weekend.

rockitman.......Your system has some very fine components, including a gorgeous turntable/tonearm/cartridge set up. It is good to hear that your initial impression of the Pass XP-25 is positive.

So Rockitman

How is the xp-25 going? We would like your thoughts. I always liked my Xono when I owned one.

Nice pre! And as much as I love my REF, I'm with you on not hunting for tubes! Just got the XP-15 here to audition and it may be a keeper as a daily driver for that exact reason.

Enjoy!
