Default Totaldac server software upgrade (Oct 2017 release)

Vincent Brient sent an email to Totaldac customers notifying us of a new server software release back in October. I finally got around to downloading, copying to a micro SD card, and loading it into my Totaldac server by shutting it off, inserting the SD card, and turning the server back on. By and large an easy process. The improvement is subtle but noticeable with music drawn from my Melco NAS. The rather obvious improvement is with music streamed from Tidal accessed thru Roon. There is an improved sense of immediacy and presence in my listening space. Amazing that an improvement can be rought with what started as a phenomenal DAC.

This is what I love about user upgradeable DACs like Totaldac, dcs, PS Audio, and others that make firmware upgrades by customers easy. It's like getting a new component without spending any money.

Default

I will be purchasing Totaldac d1-Twelve mk2 + d1-server next year for my rig.
It is my favorite DAC at any price even though i also like Aries Cerat Kassandra and Lampizator Pacific.
I also did listen to DCS Vivaldi stack and MSB Select II not worth the $100k price tag IMO.
