I only meant I love, but do not fully understand, technology.

Sorry but you sound like those naysayers who do not believe that cables or interconnects can impact the sound of ones system. If I had the need for this type of connections I would probably try one out before dismissing it. Jim |

I'm sure people said the same thing about power cables years ago...

For example, I'm a huge fan of Shunyata & do believe enough in their Zitron technology to commit to their products further. Similarly, Furutech make excellent Rhodium plugs & some of their bulk cable performs equally as good. I do own a Furutech Flux AES3. Not cheap for a digital cable! I'm a believer of shielding & have ranted about TechFlex Flexo Conductive Braid in some of my other posts. The biggest killer in ethernet performance is crosstalk & RF injection on UTP (unshielded) runs. I certainly encourage the use of shielded patch leads for AV electronics, nothing less than Cat6a amongst the criss-cross bundles of joy behind your racks! As for using a solid core patch lead, theoretically it may perform better than the standard stranded type if whoever do make these is able to properly terminate & certify the performance to the ISO / TIA with a test PASS & of course publish the results. Keeping in mind that any solid core ethernet chord is fragile & if terminated as a patch lead should not be bent & seldom removed once installed. Hmmm, maybe I should start making Cat 6a solid core patch leads & sell them for $1k a meter if this is to be the next big thing... Last edited by MyPal; 05-04-2012 at 02:35 PM. |
