I would hate to have had a knob mismatch issue between my Shindos. Shindoes? Shindi??

I also like the new lights. Mine does not have LEDs on the inside of the plexi window.
What is this stand alone phono preamp ?

Hey all:
I have a new Masseto and I have the same knobs, with the lights directly above them...In person, they (knobs/lights) are not bad, but they are definitely noticeable...I'm sure that over time, it will just be one of "those things" and will have nothing to do with the sound itself...
Best, jdk

Could be! I remember when I saw the first US review of Shindo by Jules back in 2004, my first reaction was that this was the ugliest gear on the planet. Green and gold?! I owned Shindo by July of that year and have loved the looks ever since.

Heh - my HS colors were green and gold, so I kinda like it from that.

Is that what the toggle switch is for, to toggle the 78 RIAA curves?

No. All curves are selected from the front knob. In that respect the picture is not accurate as it shows a standard Aurieges preamp. My preamp is labeled differently. There is a rear toggle for a single mono input. IOW, if you have a true mono arm / cart set up, you can use it.

Not a big fan of the new knobs but hey, it's the sound that counts - and I really love the VR sound. Having owned both the Masseto and the VR I concur that the VR is slightly darker in tone but with more texture. It also is the quietest preamp I've ever owned. The sound seems to flow out of complete blackness. Congrats - you bagged yourself a nice one.

Shahedk - what is behind the C3m tube?

I have a Tesla EF184, do the others' VRs use a Tesla or Tele EF800?
