Cars as an investment
Any stories of cars you had an opportunity to own but turned it down only to regret it later? Examples that really appreciated over the years that is.
I have a few... 1. Turned down not one but two chances to own a GT3RS 4.0L new. What was a $200k car is now a $775k car. 2. Turned down an opportunity to own a pristine Carrera GT. At the time it was a $335k car and I thought that was waaay too much. Today? $1M+ 3. Had an opportunity to buy a Dino GTS in the early 90's for a laughable sum of under $50k. Today it is a $375-400k car. 4. 1967 427 Corvette BB with matching numbers in 1989 for $12k. I'm not sure what the prices are today but it's not $12k. 5. Considered buying as "an investment only" a 918 Spyder... Chickened out. Could have made $700k easy just holding it in a garage for a few years... 6. Finally, always wanted a 2005 Ford GT. Loved that car. Walked away from a few deals. Could have enjoyed it and not have worried about depreciation at all or even made money at the right time. Last edited by PHC1; 08-15-2018 at 03:01 PM. |
