Wow - that 596 rectifier is funky looking! Did you have to buy some kind of converter for the base? The 5Y3 type are the eight-pin octal, and the 596 is the four-pin.

Interesting to hear there's a change in the topography of the Fire Bottle. So going forward, all will look like your new 6L6 amp? I like the idea of the 6SN7 input tube - I've always liked that tube... abundant too.

It's interesting this thread just got active again.

I just finished hooking up my LP-2 with KT-XXX with the Winged-C EL-34's and a Philips 5R4GYS rectifier for a listening sesh tonight. Gotta love those big bottle tubes!

I had to get an adaptor for the tube. We'll see soon if she'll sing! Like the new amp design, the guts look quite different to my 6v6. Same 6sn7 though. Guess Dennis isn't Getty NGOs bored!

My Inspire 6L6 "Fire-Bottle" build slideshow. Came with a NOS Sylvania 6BX7 driver, a pair of Tung-Sol 6L6-G large bottle power tubes and a NOS RCA 5UG4 rectifier. Dennis also included a 6LS7 driver to try.

Dennis doesn't list any more amps for sale in ebay. I'm guessing he has his hands full with orders?
