I have Prima Luna as well and it was easy to change.
Thedo’s post above covers it.
No bias adjustment needed.
Very easy to change out tubes.
The tube locations will be printed in the manual.

Give the swap out a try. It’s free and easy to do.

Hi Thedo,
Thanks for your reply.
Do matched tubes make a significant sound difference ? Should I try Gold Lions instead of the stock tubes?

Pre amp tubes do not need to be matched. I'd be surprised if you can find Gold Lion tubes--they are Russian. I noticed a small improvement in bass (maybe) when I replaced stock, but if I were buying tubes today, I would be happy to use stock.

Sorry I wasn't aware it was Russian. Wouldn't use it then.
Will swop the phono tubes and see if the noise is still there.

I managed to swap the MM phono tubes to the main output tubes and the static noise is no longer there. From one metre away, I could hardly hear anything from both speakers. If I lean closer, all I hear is some white noise. All good now.

Must say the tubes are really snug in the sockets. Thanks everyone for your help and advice.

Glad to see this has been resolved. If you don’t want to buy tubes made in Russia, then the best option is JJ Electronik in Slovakia. Or open up your wallet for some new old stock (NOS) Telefunken, Mullard, RCA,etc.

Happy listening!

Good to hear you solved your issue. I, too, found out how snug the tubes were. When I tried inserting a GL 12AT7 into my C1100 phonostage I bent a pin wile trying to install. I now have one less 12AT7 as a spare.

That's scary! From someone who has extra tubes but has never tried replacing any yet.

Excellent thread and Exsg certainly came to the right place for advice. Well done AA.

I did that when I had my MC275VI, but I just straighten out the pin and reinserted the tube and all was fine. Did bending the pin break the tube on you?
