Here I'm using a SR507 headphone coupled with SRM 600 Limited version amp;this 50th Anniversary combo was bought in december 2010 or very early in 2011; unfortunately, I use it very very rarely, I even think tubes are not broken in yet, but all I can say is that everytime I fully enjoy this kind of listening and I'm oversatisfied.



the sound is very delightful, I first feared there were not enough bass, and this not the case; warm and detailed in the same time, like I love to listen to music.

At the time, I compared it with the Senn HD800, and the Stax was better to my ears, even if the Senn was really excellent and close.

This post reminds me I should use it at night sessions, my wife would thank me heartly...lol!

I've heard this setup is dark but I didn't really find that to be the case. I listened to the albums I've mastered and was amazed how accurate the acoustic bass played. The dynamic headphone setup I have sounded tinny and harsh compared to the Stax.

I can say that this duo is very very source sensitive. Using my Luxman D-08, the CDs sounded better than any headphone rig I've had the chance to hear. It certainly piqued my interest in the Stax SR-009!

The analog sources of my VPI HRX and Nakamichi Dragon sounded superb. I am now a true convert to electrostatic phones. Dynamic sounds way too brittle and the treble is so harsh compared to the Stax.

I've noticed that the SRM-007tII and SR-007mk2 combo is quite sensitive to the source used. I used a low end Harman Kardon CD player I have and indeed, the sound was a bit dark. But with the Luxman, the sound was stunning. The strange thing is the Harman Kardon in my regular hifi setup with ARC linestage and amp did not sound dark at all.

I have the SR 404/SRM 717 system. It would be hard to imagine greater clarity, transience response, and resolution of detail. My only room for improvement would be greater isolation from outside sounds and a bit more deep bass.
