Indeed. To respond to you and stay on topic...... I can't wait to see my C52!

Pampero.......You are in for a real treat. The combination of the C52 and the MC452 will be magical. I am looking forward to reading your impressions. Don't forget how much we like photos.

I'll do a separate thread, but it will take some patience as the speaker shipment is delayed. I know you can be patient, Dan....the question is, can I?

Currently I have a HT set up and when I want 2ch listening I switch to the MX-121's pure/direct audio mode.
My sources (Sonos/Remedy via coax and Mac mini via usb) go to a D100 and from there to the 121.
I am seriously considering adding a 2ch preamp integrated to the HT via pass-through. I also like the idea of using the 2ch preamp's DAC for my sources and removing the D100 out of the chain for simplicity's sake.
I have chosen the C-52 as the pre-amp, and already contacted a seller.
Does anybody have any input (experiences/opinions/speculations all welcome)as to the comparison between D100 and C52 as DAC's?
If this has already been addressed could you guide me to that thread and my apologies in advance 😉

Hector, From what I have read, the C52 should beat the D100, even if it is equal, it would give you DSD decoding capability which the D100 does not. I would also hope that it has less pops and drop-outs than the D100 ASIO driver. Craig

I believe the C52 will be a step up from the D100......

Craig, Josh, thank you.

That is what I have come to believe after reading about this component here on AA. Looks like C52 it is. I will make a deal tomorrow.

Thank you again and I will stay tuned...

I was at a McIntosh dealer in Ann Arbor Michigan this past Saturday and he told me the C52 that I listened to has the same DAC that is in the D150.

Mike.......I would have had to ask the dealer exactly what DAC is that. If he is making a statement that the C52 has the same DAC as the D150, I think he should have no problem being more specific. McIntosh has used a number of different DAC's in their products in the past five years or so. If the dealer can't be specific, then he should not be making comments like that to a potential customer. Comments like that should be backed up with specifics, like it's a Wolfson WM8740, or it's a Burr-Brown PCM1792A, or it's an ESS ES9018 Sabre Reference DAC. I'm not saying the dealer is incorrect, but there are many assumptions being tossed about that aren't necessarily factual. If I am about to purchase a $7000.00 preamplifier, my questions should be answered thoroughly. Just sayin'.........
