Hi everybody: I once called my own a pair of very elegant Cremona M; they were driven by a Shindo Montrachet power amplifier which delivered 30 W from a EL34 Push-Pull. With NOS EL34 from Valvo in the amp the music was really full of swing. I then got the opportunity to buy a vintage SE tube amp with F2A tubes which delivered very musical 10 W. This was of cause not an amplifier to drive the Cremonas, especially in combination with the low impendance of the Cremona M, going down to 2 Ohm. After a small year of happy swinging listening I ended the chapter Sonus Faber and went into the direction of high sensitive wide range LS. But I keep the CremonaM-Montrachet combo in good memory.

Great combo!!! Do the XA100.5 ever go out of Class A with the Guarneri's? I also have Guarneri's (Although Memento's) and I am thinking about a new amp, probably McIntosh or maybe Pass Labs. If it's gonna be a Pass Labs it's gonna be a XA.5. But I don't want them to operate outside their Class A amplification. My knowledge of Class A operation isn't that extended Last edited by Ch1mera1989; 06-13-2012 at 12:25 PM. |

How do the Mcintosh ma7000 differ from 6900 powering a pair of Guarneri Memento's?
What are the biggest sonical differences? Is it worth the extra money for the ma7000? And what if I told you I could get the 6900 for less than half the price of the ma7000... Wich to get? And yes, I will audition them at home before buying Any other integrated amps I should consider? Thanks! Sent from my iPad using A.Aficionado |

Sonus Faber Grand Piano Homes presently powered by Cayin A-88T integrated amps. I recently ordered a Mcintosh MC275 Mk5 to drive them by August. I am still deciding if i'll go with solid state or tube mac preamp.

I sold the Gamut, because I felt that I needed balance controls in the application where it was being used, and I bought first a Simaudio Moon I-7 and then a Rowland Continuum 500, both of which were about equivalent to the Gamut in sonics. Different ergonomics, but the sound was excellent on both. After I bought the Guarneri Mementos, I thought I should probably give McIntosh another try, so I bought a MA7000, and so far as I am concerned, sonically, operationally and wife pleasingly, it is the best of the lot. Didn't exactly answer your question, but my impression is that the MA7000 does sound better than the MA6900, and would give you long lasting satisfaction with your Guarneri Mementos. I've now had the MA7000 for almost three years and I continue to be very pleased with it and its performance, and haven't once given serious thought about swapping it out.
