In terms of bass, when I upgrade to a more powerful amp in the future, I'm pretty sure the bass will improve even further. |

TommyC,
Thanks. On bass, of course it doesn't do the bottom octave being a 2 way, but what it does do has a lot of resolution. I'm very happy with mine. Enjoy. Sonus, 50 watts of SET on GM's, must be magical. |

I bought my Mementos a year ago and...
I love them more today than the day I bought them. I had a chance 2 weeks ago to either upgrade them to the new Amatis or upgrade my CDP, AMP, PRE. I went with upgrading the components and picked up a MAC MCD500 and MA2275 integrated and let me tell you, that 75 watts of the MA2275 IS PLENTY POWER for these speakers. It can be to much if turned up to loudly, and my room is rather large.
I went from Cary gear to MAC and am amazed at the improvement. I LOVE these speakers! I did go for the graphite version after having both in my home. I also used to own the Guarneri Homage but prefer the Mementos even though the midrange of the H was better to me. Anyway, the pics look great! |

I agree, a McIntosh tube amp driving GM's with an MCD500 as the source most be an absolute match made in heaven!!!
Love to hear that combo someday!!! |

Some people say the Memento sounds more "free" compared the Amati, which sounds more "boxed in." I've only listened to the original Amati, not the Amati Annirversario, and I would agree that the Memento has better imaging. From all the reviews I read online, what the Amati does better than the Memento is bass. When listening to large orchestral pieces, Amati sounds much fuller than the Memento. Did you have chance to audition the Amati in person at your dealer? Please do post some pics! |

Tommy, the Guarneri Memento look simply beautiful! Now that you had it for two months or so, how does it sound now that it's fully broken in?

Thank you Ken!
I've actually had them for more than a year. They are now fully broken in. Bass is deeper and tighter. Sound stage is a little wider and deeper. Highs are more relaxed now. Overall, not huge change, but small positive changes. When did you get your Elipsa? Are they fully broken in yet? |

Oops, I guess I didn't pay attention to the year.
I got my Elipsa two weeks ago. I've been playing it for at least 3 hours a day, so I have about 42 hours on it? When I first unboxed and played it, it didn't sound good at all. But after about two hours or so, it started to loosen up and made a huge improvement. It then became better and better every day, and now sounds absolutely fantastic. Some say SF's require 100 hours or so to reach their full potential, so I'll be patient |
