I'll admit that I've had my eye on the Prime Signature since its release. Then here I am stepping right over that. I do like the idea of the 12" tonearm though.

I did a bunch of research on matching cartridge to arm and it looks like both my DV10x5 and DL-110 are a very nice match to the arm. So at least this gives me a good place to start.

And issue with acoustic feedback that I should be aware of before setup? I have never had a problem with the Technics and I occasionally like it loud (bridged MC2600s > XRT22s) ...

Sweet!

It's been a good day in Arizona for gear success!

Well, the box showed up with the bottom opened slightly at the center seam. So, I went ahead and opened it (from the top!), removed all the components, gave them a quick look over, and all appears to be well. The packaging is first rate but the men in brown could break an anvil given half the chance. Fortunately, it appears that whomever at VPI designed this package almost expected that.

I feel like a guy who has always drank bud light long necks (really, I'm more of a Dos XX Amber, Negra Modela guy) who has just been given his first glass of Cain 5. The workmanship VPI puts into a table of this caliber simply has to be seen to be appreciated. Just wow.

I've no time to set it up until this weekend and I'd really rather completely clean my rack front and back as well as all the gear before gracing it with this Smithsonian-like device. If all goes well, I'll be spinnin' happily on Sunday. I'll be sure and report back afterwards with a few pics even.

Now, let me say a few words about my consummate business partner in this transaction - Ivan. I'm a business owner myself. Before starting my company (year 12) I spent 20 years in the consumer electronics industry, ten of those years as a factory rep and sales manager. Let's just say that I have high expectations. This is my 2nd purchase with Ivan. Each time, he has gone above and beyond to be both fair and informative. Tom Bodett once told me, "Value is achieved when service exceeds expectation." [Actually, he told everyone that who heard the commercial . . . ] Price is not part of the value equation. Ivan understands that as good as anyone I've yet met. And for that, I now have a barometer to look towards for future purchases which are a tad outside my wheelhouse.

Thank you Ivan. I'm anxious to spin my first LP on this outer worldly device.

All set up! Me and the unipivot are BFFs. One slight issue - the cueing tower simply isn't tall enough. For now, I slid a piece if 1/4" heat shrink over the flat and all is good. I'll call VPI tomorrow and get it sorted.

As for SQ, it's at least as good as the Technics! And what a work of art.

Outstanding. Best looking TT VPI has made.
When I had a VPI with that platter & pulley I used 2 or 3 belts. Not sure I could hear a difference. One thing that I could hear was the difference between the VPI record clamp and the Stillpoints LP1. Stillpoints has some sort of secret in the LP1.

I'm sure enjoying it! It's a sexy beast and it sounds just spectacular.
