I had the regular SHL5's prior to the introduction of the + model.

I used to have the SHL5 before upgrading to the plus model and found a big improvement... really do work beautifully with the E470, but it's good to hear about others preferences and why.
Keep them coming.

Agree, my A-70 sounds great with my FS Ktemas.

Devore O/96 with Accuphase E600 - moved to the E600 from a full Shindo system (Giscours, Cortese, Haut Brion). The 30W Class A work wonderful with the very efficient Devores - rich, fast, lively, and great tonality and textures.

E-600 runs up to 53 degrees celcius, hottest point on the heat sinks.
The V3's are a bargain now, saw a set for 3000 GBP on ebay.
They have very low distortion, great resolution, coherence from top to bottom is excellent, closed box design. I find them very musical, a joy to listen too for longer periods.

Thanks for the insight into E600 and Magico... I used to own the Sugden Masterclass IA4 integrated, but couldn't live with the heat, particularly in my small listening room, plus it couldn't tame the base boom, unlike Accuphase.
Cheers

I've heard that Focal work well with Accuphase amps, any experience here?

yes, E-550 I used with Focal Electra 1037Be, good match. (but not in the same league, as the V3's)

I myself would really like to hear the Focal Sopra No.2 with my Accuphase E-470
unfortunately the nearest dealer is 150 Km away, so with not owning a car i will not like to bring my Accuphase to the dealer as i will have to travel by train.
