Clear Day Cables

Wanted to say thanks to our AA member Robc33 who was kind enough to send me a pair of Clear Day double shotgun cables to try out with the PrimaLuna HP tube amp. That's the kind of comradery we have among our group here.

For those not familiar with Clear Day cables and I was not familiar with them at all, they are solid core silver cables made by a dedicated audio enthusiast Paul Laudati who hand makes these cables. The speaker cables come in various configurations including single, shotgun and double shotgun depending on your speaker sensitivity and needs. The singles are for 100dB, shotgun for 93-99dB and double shotgun for speakers with efficiency below 92dB. Since my speakers are below 92dB, the double shotgun was the appropriate speaker cable.

I wired up the Clear Day Cables speaker cables to the PrimaLuna HP integrated and the Harbeth 30.2 and sat down to listen after the amp warmed up some.

I have to say, that these cables absolutely shined. By comparison to the Transparent The Wave speaker cables that I was using right before the Day Cables, the Days created a clean and clear window to the soundstage. Effortless, dynamic, they allowed the PrimaLuna to breathe much easier. I was very impressed with the overall transparency and clarity of these silver cables but at no point did they sound overly eager in the treble or the upper midrange like some silver cables can.

Clear Day Cables sounded very balanced, airy and resolving and the sense of ease with which they created a pathway between the EL34's running in Triode mode to the speakers was as if there were no cables between the speakers and the amp at all. No wonder they are called Clear Day. That is what they sound like. Sunshine and breeze!

I was so impressed that I will be buying a pair of double shotguns for my PrimaLuna for sure. It is a great way to go with tube amps. Highly recommend you try a pair since you have nothing to lose. I loved them and thank you Rob for letting me audition them!

Very kind of you Serge. I'm was more than happy to help spread the word on these little gems. They are simply amazing for their price tag. They have been used on my Strads for over a year, and after auditioning many, many cables, I have just now replaced them. It took the WW Gold Eclipse 7s to retire them, at several times the cost. Which were leant, to me by another kind AA member, Dave(Canonicus). My thanks go out to him as well.

I have the Shotguns, and while what they replaced was some low-fi decades old Monster MCX2 , the difference was pretty eye opening. Especially for the non-cable believers out there. I'll leave it at that.

Paul offers a pretty much no questions asked, satisfaction policy so anyone who feels their system might be a little dark or having some midrange suckout, these might be the ticket.
