"Try this and tell us what you think" re: WW Platinum Electra 7 Power Cord

I was picking up some Oyaide R1 outlets over the weekend at Command Performance AV in Falls Church, VA. I was chatting with a couple of the sales guys including the owner and they offered me a home trial of a slightly used 3 foot Wire World Platinum Electra 7 power cord. They offered that if I wanted to keep it after auditioning, they'd sell it to me for $1500 (price new is $3000). Curious, I took them up on the offer and brought it home. Because the Benchmark Canare SpeakON speaker cables had arrived the same day from Benchmark, I put them in my system first to gauge the tonal balance of the speaker cables (see my post regarding the AHB2 amp in the general amplifier section). Once satisfied that I had gotten a handle on the new speaker cable sound, I plugged the WW power cord into my amp while finishing up work at home a couple hours ago.

The conclusion rapidly forming in my mind is this is a sweet and smooth sounding cord. Like other WW products I've heard it manages to be highly resolving while imparting a liquidity to the sound. Bass and cello notes, timpani, and percussion come across clearly while none of the higher octave instruments lose their prominence and position in the soundstage. Tonality and definition are improved in general. Vocals are especially improved. Fleshiness, breathing, saliva, etc. all are clearer. Finally, the qualiy I value most as a pianist is that pianos come across with far less clanginess. Compared to my AudioQuest NRG10 cord ($500 new), the WW cord (at six times the price new) provides a dramatic improvement.

Am I keeping the cable and paying Command Performance the $1500? Heck yeah! I believe I am going to migrate my system over to WW as time goes on. That's a conclusion/decision Ivan will appreciate...

Very intrigued by the whole "Power Cord" thing. Would love to blind test one, or a few, to see what I can truly hear. I'll see if I can get my local dealer to loan one or two.

LOL, thanks. For me the better power cords make the sound relaxed and less compressed. Soundstage opens up, and the overall tone of the system is less strident. I've found that I can voice my system to some extent as well.

Santa Ivan delivered a pair of Platinum Electra 7 power cords (2 meter) to my house yesterday. Got them hooked up to my Ayre QB-9 and CP-800 preamp. Having two in the system vs. one makes a big difference. Clearer soundstage, greater tonality, more detail, more ease, and smoother sound. These cables are terrific. Getting a couple top-of-the-line power cords in one's system is like upgrading a component. WireWorld is beginning to replace AudioQuest as my favorite cable company.

i found it bit harsh compare with siltech ruby hill2, and interestingly i couldn't stand it with my sim 650D with 820S. interestingly silver electra7 was much smoother ac cord than platinum7. please don't be fool with price. get what you really like if needed wait. but agreed without any question experimenting on your rig made you understand things what you really want.

previously my problem starts when listening so do the cable changing madness took place, i felt agitated, but after i start using siltech Royal signature series peace came along no cable swapping at all, now can't survive with ww, cardas or even transparent ref.

if you go for silver you should consider siltech or nordost strongly.

Power cords in my experience truly are system dependent, more so than other cables. For my system the WW Platinum Electra cords uncompress the sound where it's easier to discern multiple instruments/voices/tracks in music. I had a highly resolving setup before, but the Electra 7 cables took it another step higher.
