George:

Thank you so much for this.

I have been recording my reel-to-reel tapes to DSDx2 (the max the X100L can output) and have not used my X100L for a month other than during the last week to burn-in some cables using the Isotek burn-in disc ripped to FLAC; I had set it up as a playlist, so I just used the front panel playlist search and pressed play, without using Conductor app, which worked fine for a few days, and then stopped completely on 12/24.

One wrinkle was I had just read Ivan's description on how to use Stillpoints Ultra SS by not only a half turn loosen of the bottom, but also a half turn loosen where it connects to the Esoteric. I lifted each corner and loosened the "top" connection and thought maybe a connection to the Aurender came loose, but on close inspection that was not the case.

Sat down the evening of 12/24 to listen to some DSD recordings of tape after the "tweek" to the Stillpoints connection expecting to hear the improvement Ivan described and ran into the problem described above with Esoteric/Aurender DSD file failure. I remembered this thread and tried to send an email to Aurender, but I could not initially get a connection to the internet; after rebooting every which way but loose I finally got a connection and sent a request, which was answered and resolved yesterday (due to holidays).

After several tries, I was able to play 44.1 FLAC files on 12/24 and tested the first album alphabetically: AC/DC Back in Black. I played the title tune and it blew me away, just as Ivan had described when instructing that the only contact points for the Ultra SS should be the threaded screw at the top and the screw between the main body and the footer.

I am now enjoying the DSD files as well.

Best regards,

Lance

Hey Lance ... glad my experience was able to help! I think I've been helped by others here far more than I've helped but that's one of the things I love about this forum is that everyone here is genuinely helpful and what a great source of experience and knowledge. I used to sell this stuff for a living (decades ago ...LOL) and have learned a ton more over the past several years here via others experiences than I had in decades before. Thanks to all who make AA a success and a big shout out to Ivan who sets the stage for all of this! Happy and Healthy New Year everyone!

George
