Before a person uses the term "assault weapon", they should learn what that means.
It's not the rate of fire, it's not the caliber, it's the features the rifle has on it. Take a simple semi-auto .223 rifle with a detachable mag, add a pistol grip and it becomes an "assault weapon". That's the truth, if one does a little investigation they find those things out. |

I am a rifle, and shotgun owner.
I really like the lever action guns. Something about them that seems just perfect for all uses. Maybe I watched too many cowboy moves when I was a kid. I have a 45/70, and a 22 Mag, at the moment.

I saw a sign on the gun store's door recently. It said, "Guns kill people like spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat..."

Owning a Class III weapon also means that the ATF&E can enter your house any time they feel like it to make sure you are still in possession of said gun and did not loan it out to anyone that does not hold the Class III tax stamp. I was a Class I dealer for 13 years in a previous life, so I've filled out a few thousand of those things.

I wouldn't want to walk up to a Class III owner's house and have to assert my right as an official of the ATF&E to inspect his firearm!

Sigs and Glocks here, although I got rid of my original G23 after reading about the number of kabooms. My favorite is a Sig Sauer P229.
Just obtained a Benelli M4 -- then found out that when a foreign-made shotgun is imported, it is limited to a 5 round magazine and in the case of the M4, it is possible to order a custom titanium 7 round mag, but then there is the 922r law that states that no more than 10 USA-made parts from the official BATF list can be a part of the M4 with an extended magazine and a new follower and magazine drops the total count from 13 to 11 and there does not appear any legal way to get the number to 10. Yet is is perfectly legal to add a magazine extender to a Remington 1100 or purchase a Mossberg 590 with 8 shot capacity (like I traded in)... it seems that our gun laws pick on certain pieces and not on others... strange... While not your $20,000 side by side shotgun, I personally fancy my (2) 45's. First being Les Bear, second being Wilson Arms, about 5K for the pair and most likely the best example of a 1911 one can own, IMHO. Both are excellent for competitive shooting but make one heck of a home defense piece as a 45 in each hand has a way of making a statement..........
