Peter Gabriel downloads
I’m looking for some Hi-Rez Peter Gabriel downloads and it appears that the only place they’re available from is Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound. It looks like only some can be downloaded if you are a member, while others require a voucher that only comes with box sets.
Can someone that is a member shed some light on which albums are available to members and if they are free once I become a member or if I will incur additional expenses for each download? Thanks! Mike |

Hi Jim,
I no longer log onto SoS, haven't since I got the last B&W's that I've owned (805 Diamonds first series) but the albums were indeed free once I'd registered my products. That includes more than one by P Gabriel if I remember corrently. Having said that, and again if my memory serves me right, I didn't think the world of those P Gabriels in particular and I believe they were 48/24 or so. Some of the London Symphony Orchestra's though did sound fantastic. Iarla O'Lionard too.

I'm member of SoS.
In the Download-Section (these are for free) there's nothing from Peter Gabriel. In the Store-Section there's only one Album. The 2012 remastered 'So'. And it is 48/24. http://blog.bowers-wilkins.com/music...r-gabriels-so/ I don't have it. But maybe want it. Hmmm. On Thidal there's only "Big Time" in 16/44,1 from 2013 and "Live Blood" from 2012, also in 16/44,1.

One of the PG albums I had downloaded from Society... was "Scratch my back". Just listening to it again via JRiver to my DAC -yeah it was 48/24 and, personally, I'd stay away.
Love some of those DSD versions Mike!

Lol no problem. Thanks guys! I have several SACDs and associated DSD files, which are from, as I recall, the 2002 remasters. I was looking forward to listening to the later remastered versions which get some mixed reviews but mostly positive. I’ll just enjoy what I have. |
