It's a demo ex, and I'm not sure if it's completely broken in. I will let the amp play continuesly for four days more before return it to my dealer. After that I need some time to decide what to do. Either stay with my ATI's a bit longer or get a pair of 601's or 1.2kw's.

I think 452 sounds more like the 601's than the 1.2kw's. It all depends on how much I like the 452 after a few more days, time will tell. But one thing for sure is that 452 is a non fatigue sounding amp, and this is very important for me. I am so tired of the "show off amps" with all their details in your face. Theese amps are perfect for short time demos, but not over time. I recently brought back two expensive monoblocks, and they sounded fantastic the first our. Very detailed and dynamik and had great resolution. In fact, I was blown away and couldn't believe what I heard. But, as often before, after an our or two the listening fatigue starts to sneak on me. I had to turn the volume more and more down to avoid headache. It was simply to clear and analytic.

When using Mc gear I experience the opposite. It sounds kind of nice and almost boring in the beginning, but after a while the Mc sound starts to grow on me, and I can play for ours without problem. That is something just a very few other brands can do, especially if we talk about big power amps and not the low powered se amps.

I know exactly waht you mean. I was running a Soulution 530. I took home a demo McIntosh C48 and never returned it (I only listen to vinyl and it is a fantatstic phono). I bought the JBL K2S9900 after listening to them thru a MA8000.

I am just waiting for the dealer to get a MC452. They have sold a lot of these amps and prefer the to the 601 which they feel sounds exactly the same in their blind listening tests.

I have been told that Mac amps need at least 100hrs to bed-in so please keep me posted.

BTW - I was going to get the 4365 but then we switched to the K2 and it was all over for me.

K2 is my dreamspeaker, but here in Norway the price is over two times the price of 4365.
K2 and 4365 share the same midrangedriver. Great speakers both.

I will post my final impression on Tuesday next week.

So, you like the K2 more than the 4365? In which way?

Cool. Yeah, I do too. Accuphase has great sound and build quality.

I'm pretty sure I will upgrade to an Accuphase amp.

Well, it's not Tuesday yet, but I have come to an conclusion about the Mc 452. Remember, this is in my room and on my setup. 452 was turned on late Wednesday and have been running continously day and night since then. I couldn't hear any change in SQ from the amp since it was turned on.

Mc 452 is well balanced from bottom to top and the sound is warm without any "edginess".
In fact it's too warm for my taste. I feel there is a thin curtain in the soundstage that put a blur over the sound. This again leads to a kind of absence of microdetails, not total absence, but enough to let some of the 'magic' in the music suffer. First I couldn't put my finger on this, but after a shootout against my ATI amps it was easy to hear the difference. Don't get me wrong, Mc452 is a good amp I'm sure many will like very much. It never get analytical and sharp. Listening fatigue is never a theme here.

I consider to try out Mc 1.2 kw, but wonder if it't a point if the sound signature from Mc 452 is familiar. It's very important for me to have a clear and dynamic sound, but not over analytic and sharp so it leads to listening fatigue.

If someone is so lucky to own a pair of 1.2kw's and are willing to share some useable info about these beauty beast, I would be grateful.

Best

Ok, thanks! The K2s are an excellent speaker. I wish I could have afforded them, but the S4700s are good too.
