My former industry had issues like that as well in Canada. Industry Association meetings used to be much more frequent in the 70’s -90’s but have slowed significantly based on the potential issues they could create.

For the most part, any of our people could only meet formally with a competitor with lawyers on both sides and a very specific agenda.

I have a Dynavector XX2 MK2 cartridge ($1600 plus) I thought sounded great. I read some recommendations on the Ortofon Quintet Bronze stating it was a great buy. So for $700 plus I bought the Ortofon to try something new.

Result: After many. many A/B tests comparing the 2, the Ortofon is a clear winner sonically. Everyone who hears them both in my room says the same. Fantastic buy.

Same thing with Emminent Technology speakers. $2500 for a pair that sound fantastic from a company that really does not advertise or go to the shows. And provides great service.

The point is there are great products out there at relatively reasonable prices (for an audiophile anyway).

I recently went from the quintet bronze to the black s (loaded at 25 ohms); its an even more drastic improvement for not much more money. Def consider it for your next upgrade!

From the Dan's original post, I would like to listen to a Lyra Atlas. The Kleos is certainly a winner. Would be very difficult for me to choose between the Atlas and the 2301. Glad I'll never have to make that decision.
