I seen Aurender had battery/wifi bookshelf speakers for $3,000 a pair. Seems awfully expensive.

Doug.......The only thing cheap in our community is stuff no one wants.

I wonder how the Aurender Content Server will compare to the N10. My plan was to purchase the 8TB N10 but maybe I'll wait to see what new components Aurender brings to market. My wish list includes a ripping drive, SSD storage and clock input.

My understanding is that the ACS isn't a source device, but simply an automated way of ripping and storing music into your NAS.

Doug........That is not correct. As I understood the Aurender director's comments, the Aurender Content Server's primary design concept was to be a completely stand alone music server that requires no computer in order to provide music as a source component. It has internal hard drive storage and SSD cache, while providing an onboard transport for ripping files to the hard drive. The Aurender Content Server is a stand alone music server. I am pleased to see Aurender use a conventional transport in the ACS rather than a slot loading transport. This would be a well received product once it is officially introduced.

I understood it as storage + ripping + metadata; hence the name ACS. I cant wait to see more details and pricing from Aurender.

I think you may be right. I watched the video again and nowhere does it say it's a music server. It appears to be an add on component to all Aurender music servers that enables ripping and central storage of music files without the need for a computer or NAS. Makes sense because it enhances all their music servers without usurping them.

Thanks,
Ken

Ken.......It says "server" in the component's name. Aurender Content Server.

You guys may be correct. I sent an email to Aurender asking for clarification of the function and purpose of the Aurender Content Server. I am hoping to have an answer soon.
