Salon 2 gets some ink again
The latest issue of Stereophile has a detailed "re-review" of the Salon2 written by Jim Austin. The usual raves are repeated (along with an error or two) but the upshot is that after a decade, Austin reminds that the Salon 2 retains its relevance and charms and remains one of the best buys in a full range speaker at any price.
Fun to read if you own a pair. |

Read it today. Always nice to hear good things about one’s choice in speakers.

IMO pretty tough to find a full range speaker that can match these at anywhere near the price today.

I’ve heard them on several occasions, they are still a great speaker and an an incredible value on the used market. I think I saw a pair of these on the ‘gon a couple of months ago somewhere around $8999.

I think when i read the original review the speakers ended up, and this is from memory, but 6’ from the front and side walls and only 58” apart with the listening chair 11’ away? I’ll have to look it up, but may explain why my experience didn’t quite match the glory of the reviewer. Tbh, in my room with my gear of the salon 1, salon2, and the f52 the f52’s sounded best. Horses for courses.
