So I’ve seen a lot written about 2300 to 1100 upgrade which makes sense but have any c500 t or p owners made the switch? If so, what have you found? I have the c500p and have considered a switch but wonder if there would be much of a delta (beside looks which aren’t a factor for me)

I upgraded from the C500P to the C1100 a couple years ago and have been very pleased. The C1100 is the quietest preamp ever offered by McIntosh and has an excellent hybrid phono stage (Tube+Solid state). While the C500P was very good, the C1100 performs so well that they didn't offer a solid state version. I listen primarily to vinyl and find the presentation to be quite detailed and just on the warm side of neutral. I'd certainly recommend an audition.

Thanks for your input. I may just have to give it a try

I moved from a C500T to the C1100. I noticed the C1100 is quieter, throws a deeper soundstage, and has a more open and detailed sounding MC section.

Default Perfect

I upgraded from a C46 to a C1100 :
- the frequency spectrum seems more extensive
- the separation of the channels is incredible

I'm happy to have waited, I wanted to buy a C500, or a used C200 . . .

Best regards

What do you use for DAC or streamer to C1100?

I use none. The sound comes directly from the "Blue Ray" reader decoder, and two channels TV decoder. I use a C46 for central channel and passive preamp for rear speakers.
