Look into the Rythmik F12SE. You need to buy your subs, if only buying one set, based on their primary usage. The design principals for HT (special effects) subs and Music subs are different. Never owned JL home subs but have owned most of the other major players like SVS,HSU, REL, Vandersteen.

I wonder why so many subs don't do well below 20 hz. Internet direct companies like Deep Sea, Funk Audio, and Seaton go down to 10 hz. For music it shouldn't matter, the lowest hz in symphony is 16 hz, same with organs. But movies go down to 7 hz in extreme cases.

A 12" woofer will move about 1.5" one way, 3" peak to peak to make 105 dB at 20 Hz in a medium sized room. This is the limit of what most conventional subs can do. If you drop the frequency to 10 Hz, you get a one way excursion of 6"! Unless you go to an unconventional motorized sub (Seaton) you just can't get there. Drop the level to about 90 dB and a normal sub can do it. Tom

Mouse. If you have the budget, I would do this: Get one REL 25 for now. One well positioned will sound really good. When the audio funds replete, get a pair of JL audio 113's. Connect the 25 high level only. Connect the JL's to your processor. Only use JL's for HT LFE. I own both, and REL is far better for 2 channel, and JL is far better for HT. the 25 def. is a beautiful sub and has the WAF. The JL's have a beautiful finish, but they are basically a box.
If you want to talk more about sub's PM me. I've done tons of research and listened to many, many subs.

Your room will have many peaks and nulls in it. You should do the subwoofer crawl test for accurate sub placement; it's results are remarkable and will give you the best bass response in your listening position.
