Default JA Michell Turntable: Gyro SE

JA Michell Turntable: Gyro SE 1 JA Michell Gyro SE Turntable
JA Michell TecnoArm Tonearm 1 JA Michell TecnoArm Tonearm
Shelter 501 II Phono Cartridge

Would the Clearaudio Maestro Wood, work with this set up?
If so, better??

(Buying the turntable because the looks appeal to me, as I know its probably not the best, at this price point, but it does hold its own.)

The Techno arm is a modified Rega 250 arm so make sure you get both counter weights then you can use a wide range of cartridges. The smaller counter weight is good for 4-7 gram carts and the heavier one is good for 7-13 grams. The Maestro is a light cart and I would use it with the heavier weight.

If you not locked into MM cart I would look at a Audio Technica OC9 MK III and they retail for around $550......Shelter 501 II is good too retail $950.....Benz Ace I like alot retail $700. All these will be better than the maestro IMO and my first choice is the AT OC 9 MK III Killer Cart! for the rega 250/techno arm

Good stuff, thanks.
They are not rolling out big discounts on this table.
The Shelter 501 was suggested, but I thought the Maestro might be better.
From just reading with no experience.

Now the Lyra Dorian and Shelter 501 II Phono Cartridges has been suggested by dealer over Clear Audio Maestro and Benz Micro Glider SM.

Any one have opinions on these cartriges for this table??
Price is climbing with technoarm ect.
Discounts are a little better now, but no Ivan great deals here.
I am in the pool, just in the shallow end...

Well, I own and use a Gyro SE MKii with a Shelter 501 MkII and I think it's a terrific combination. Highly recommended.

If you would like more info, feel free to let me know.

I think the table performs great. I like the fact that it's well designed, has something of a cult following and that there are quite a few tweaks out there to improve its performance.

I added the upgraded power supply and damped down the springs and this baby sings! I'm about to add a second arm to the setup which should extend it's shelf life far beyond mine!
