Hi,

Pass is for me the best SS power ampli.

I had listen the Dagostino and oder Brands (Burmester & Soulution) but Pass is the more natural and have a "Plus" vs the others.

.8 vs .5: well is not easy decide is the first is better form the second -> I say .8 is not better but different and is a personal taste. The .5 sound very very good but you cant say that .8 is not a great ampli!!

if I think at the xs150 and xs300 i can only immagine what they can do! a combo whit the Xs preampli is sure amazing.

cma29 a refurbished Pass Xa160.5 can be available and sure give a lot of satisfaction for a lot of years.
if you have the possibilty to give your Xa100.5 as payment for a pair of 160.5 you can do a great bargain!

Dear slowikpl,

Many thanks for those informations. Mine have nox 60h and so far of break in. In his time i compared xa60.5 and xa100.5, and there was a big difference as the 100.5 had much more bass but high of 60.5 was more beatiful. The gap between 160.5 and 100.5, is great and treble is more detailed, bass is deeper , tempo is faster so we have more slam. But i am waiting till they will be broken to go further in description.
At least 300h....
Now, it's normal there are big differences with 60.8, look what is inside both amps and you will find the answer.

Yeah. That's what I'm thinking - exchanging my XA100.5s for the XA160.5s with credit towards the XA160.5s.

Dear Alfa,

My xa160.5 have now 300h, and I hear big improvement in control, détail for the bass. I loved my xa100.5, but I din't think the 160.5 is so much better.really they are fantastic. They are better balanced from top to bottom. The first time i heard the xa60.5 i nfound treble so beautiful, xa100.5 was lesser but i needed more power to drive the bass of the sasha, and there therc was a huge differnce. I have the feeling that burn in is not yet finished.

So, you can go to the 160.8, you won't regret it and will hold them for a long, long time.
Try to see photos of inside xa100 and xa160, .5 or .8, and you will see and understand why there are so big differnces. Sasha2 could be an opprtunity when sasha3 will outcome...

Hi jspock

is this is a typo " I loved my xa100.5, but I din't think the 160.5 is so much better."

is the 160.8 worth the extra $$$ ?

Alfa...I think you will get greater benefits by upgrading to Sasha2.

The Sasha 2 is also more sensitive, which mean your amp will drive them better...win-win

"The Sasha Series-2 has been specified to be 92dB efficient at 1-watt/1m/1kHz which makes it 1dB more efficient than the previous version. In-room average frequency response spans the 20Hz to 27kHz range within a ±3dB window. The system impedance has been quoted as 4 ohms with a minimum at 2.7 ohms; this is an easier load than Series-1 and far easier than big sister Alexia. Wilson Audio recommends a minimum of 20 watts of amplification and we would not dispute that — as long as it’s accompanied by high current capacity in order to reap the best bass control and dynamic potential"
