Honda Ridgeline is assembled at the Honda Manufacturing of Alabama.

"According to Honda, the Ridgeline was not designed to steal sales from the more traditional trucks sold in North America, but was developed to "give the 18% of Honda owners who also own pickups a chance to make their garages a Honda-only parking area."

Honda manufacturing the 3.0 and 3.5 Liter engines in Lincoln Alabama. Most efficient, automated engine line around the world for Honda, right here in the US of A.

My reference to 4x8 was with in light of the bed being raised in order to accommodate a huge 'hidden' trunk, the wheel wells are almost level with the bed, making the bed practically flat, side-to-side and front-to-rear. The wheel wells on the Honda do protrude upwards, like all trucks, but their height is only 1.75 inches.

Measuring the width of the bed, at the tailgate, is 51.25 inches. The width of the inside of the bed is 59.75 inches. The 8.5 inch difference takes into the account for the somewhat massive left/right pillars which hold the latches for the tailgate (conventional drop down & to allow opening the tailgate like an old style Oldsmobile station wagon -- open right side and swing to left).

So, you can definitely slide a 4x8 resting on the tailgate into the bed & it being flat & not significantly tilted, etc., because of high wheel wells.

Measuring the length of the bed with tailgate up is 62.75 inches and with it down, measures 83.50 inches. Not enough to encapsulate the entire length of a 4x8; one would have 12.5 inches hanging off the rear tailgate (secured w/straps using the 8 possible tie down points in the bed).

Hope that helps to clarify when I said "carry a true 4x8 flat."

Bob

Nor many full sized trucks anymore, for that matter, with the proliferation of
extra cabs, luxury cabs, etc....

It's also ironic that while Ford is pulling out of Japan, Honda continues to invest in the US. So buying a Honda may be more of an investment in US jobs than buying a Ford - isn't that the ultimate irony?
Thanks. I just pulled the window sticker from my files to see what is stated for parts content. I knew quite a bit of the truck was made with USA parts -- didn't know exactly. Had no idea Canada was included. Guess this is 1 of the 3 Hondas.

US/Canadian Parts Content: 75%
Country of Origin Engine: USA
Country of Origin Transmission: USA

I like those numbers. Cool Beans
