Hey Mike...thx for the link. There is a whole genre of modern-day hip hop artists who use jazz samples that they mix into the vocal and bass line recordings. It's fun stuff but I still like to go back to the golden oldies most of the time. At age 40, I can appreciate the hip-hop/jazz fusion genre but going back to the source for me is always revelatory and much more emotionally engaging.

That brings back memories - saw them c. 1994 open up for UB40. Always enjoyed Cantaloop, even before I ever heard the Herbie Hancock version they sampled.
