Tommy.......Yes, 100+ hours of break in on the MC601's just to be positive the sonic signature has become permanent before reintroducing the MEN220. Right now the MEN220 is being fed from the preamp's main output #2, and only connected to the Fathom f113.

I made the decision to write the MC601 review before the full 100 hours because, quite frankly, it has had only minimal sonic changes since the first hour. I wanted to let everyone in on the results I am experiencing.

Dan, as an ex MC501 owner and I had deep respect for them and having auditioned the MC601 recently, I couldn't agree more with your review. Outstanding write-up and assessment of the 601's. Great job as always.

Serge.......Thank you very much. I am glad you had an opportunity to hear the MC601's for yourself.

Dan,

Thanks for taking the time to write this and all your other reviews. I appreciate the straightforward, no-nonsense approach you take in your writing. I much prefer your style to other reviews in publications that wax poetic about the "velvety chocolate background that gives a subtle hint of green in the upper registers".

For anyone looking at the 601's, this review would be just the thing needed to unlock their wallet.

Jérôme.......Thank you. I will be very surprised if I find the MC452 is not up to the task of making the Amati Anniversario's sing. It is a very powerful amplifier. The amp is driving the Memento's right now (88dB efficient) with no issues. Comfortably loud volume levels find the MC452 peaking at less than 45 watts. The Amati Anniversario's (92dB efficient) should reduce the required amplifier power for the same volume level to half that required for the Memento's.

If you are talking about bragging rights and wow factor, that's another story, but I don't see another pair of 601's for the studio. The wind may change, so one never knows.

Doug.......Be careful. That deadbolt on your wallet may find itself open in the near future.
