Default My theater project

As my theater nears completion, I thought I'd share a brief pictorial history of the build out.

As we were planning the new construction that would take place once the old house was demolished, I wanted to finally have a dedicated room for listening to music and build a home theater that the whole family could enjoy. The whole basement was then designed to accomodate the theater and a 2 channel listening room.

Here are some pics that I took along the way.

The "Old House".

Old House Demolished.

From this point, it could have gone many different ways... But I did want to try a full ASC treatment. I decided to go all out and do it right.

ASC Iso-Wall and Iso-Ceiling rails and dampers installed to decouple the drywall from the studs and minimize the sonic signature of the walls and ceiling in the room.

Riser platform framed out for the rear section seating. Once again, treated with ASC felt pads/gaskets to decouple from the floor and the plywood on top. Completely insulated between the studs to fill up the cavities and prohibit any bass waves to build up within it. This platform is acoustically DEAD!

Riser platform/walk-through for the first and second row of seating is floated from the floor and upper plywood top and is ready.

ASC ISO-Wall and ISO-Ceiling rails ready to receive the double drywall layer. Notice the protective white peel off paper protecting the rubber gaskets on the rails. All soffits are filled in to minimize bass build up within the cavities. Stewart Filmscreen housing built in for the retractable screen.

First layer of ceiling drywall floated and installed. Right away, the ASC iso-dampers are applied to float the second layer of drywall.

Second layer of ceiling drywall is floated and installed over the first layer with the ASC dampers every 12 inches to keep the drywall sonically dead.

First layer of wall drywall is installed and once again the ASC iso-dampers are used to decouple the second layer from the first. Got to have patience to apply so many of these suckers....
