Next Big Mac tube amp.
So how long before McIntosh converts the MC2152 into 300 watt monoblocks?
I wonder how they will compare to the 2301. I am guessing the new model will be MC2311 but since it seems to be an entirely new design compared to the 2301 I might be way off base. Mike S. |

The Mc2152 appears to be based off two MC275, specs. on MC2301 appear better .

Strange the MC275 is designed for mono operation but the MC2152 is not.

One difference are the driver sections which is SS on the MC2301 while the MC275 and MC2152 are all tube designs, FWIW.

Note-Worthy and very true. Having heard 2301's and MC-75's back to back, there is an audible difference.

The only one up would be if there was a such thing as a amp as good as the 2301 from MC like a more powerful say 2401 400 watt amp, can you imagine the heat though

I don’t need more heat from new amps. The 2301’s are capable of heating up my 26’x16’x11’ room by 3 degrees after an hour or two of running. I had to open the balcony doors to let in the 45F air the other day... Could you imagine 20 KT88s in a room!!!

Since I have three 2301’s in my system I have 24 KT 88’s running. Usually the room is on the cool side so it’s no problem. But still, more tubes is probably not what I’m looking for!
