Slanted cantilever
I've noticed for a little while that the cantilever on my Cadenza Blue is slanted coming out of the body.
I don't know what happened for it to be in this state as I've been very careful using it and I've had a professional installing it on the arm. I wonder if I can either fix it or compensate for the slant by the setup. I will try to post pictures later to show what is going on. It's the second time that it has happened to me and I'm starting to wonder if it's worth spending this much on a cart... |

Is it slanted toward the outside of the table?

That sounds like misadjusted anti-skate.

If it's slanted inwards (towards the spindle) one possible cause could be excessive anti-skating force.

Yes...too much AS or combination of that and to light on VTF. Watch as the stylus hits the record as you lower it down, once it hits the groove it really should not slant either way. If it does very noticeably then I suspect your cart/arm needs adjusting, you can also remove the AS and watch and see what happens.
AS and VTF should work together in harmony |

No, toward the table.
Hopefully you can see what I mean with those pictures (it's hard to get a sharp shot on the iPhone and I don't have a macro lens) |

Slanted cantilever
Are you using a lot of antiskate?
As the others have mentioned it could be your antiskate setting. I also normally set toward the top of the tracking force range |

Did you notice it came like that? Looks like the newer Cadenza Blue with Ruby cantilever. Most of the cartridges I have come across have not had a perfectly centered cantilever. Even my Blue Lace came with the cantilever slightly angled inward.
Kinda hard to tell how much the cantilever is angled with the pictures with the curved cartridge body and an unknown Zenith angle. But, this is the reason you set your alignment with the cantilever and not the cartridge body. Last edited by advanced101; 01-04-2017 at 06:27 PM. |
