I did go with the Atrias, but they are not in my room yet as my dealer is several hours away and I've had trouble finding the time to go pick them up. I am hoping I am able to make the trip this weekend.

Amadave,
Please, give a report on your speakers when you get them. I am very interested in your thoughts because I am seriously considering my local dealer's demo Atrias. I have not yet heard the Atrias, but really like the Aviors and the two Rockport models above that. My room is just a touch bigger, about 17x21x9, but I believe the Atrias will be more than sufficient for some pretty powerful listening.

Mikeylee,

If you love the Aviors and above, I know you'll feel the same about the Atrias. IMO, all Rockport speakers have the same sound signature. As you move up the line, you gain the ability to fill bigger rooms and the different cabinet construction of the Altairs and Lyra allow for a completely inert enclosure which in my opinion really makes them sing. Amazing speakers!!

SuperDave,
Thanks for the info. I want to make sure I make the correct choice because this is a big chunk of change for me. I am going to assume my McIntosh MA-6600 will match well since you are driving your Aviors with solid state Mc.

Well, I did it! I just purchased my dealer's demo pair of Rockport Technology Atria speakers. Sunday, we listened to the speakers in an environment similar to my room with fairly equivalent electronics. The Atrias sound very similar to the Aviors, Cygnus, and Altairs, only lacking the authority provided the additional cabinet volume and woofer surface area. I was expecting the clarity, soundstaging, and tonal accuracy, but the amount and quality of bass out of the single 9" woofer was amazing! I even got a "wow" from my wife!

My wife has been gracious enough to let me set up a room for my system, and my dealer is delivering and setting up the speakers Sunday. I am very excited because this is a huge step up from my Sonus Faber Grand Piano Domus which have served me well these last six years.

Congratulations, Mickeylee. Wow, what a speaker! I wish you much success and beautiful music with your Atria's

There is just something about Rockport Technology speakers. They are stunning. One of the very few that I aspire to.

Cheers,

Scott

Samac,
Thank you. The Atrias are far beyond anything I thought I would ever be able to own. I am confident these are my forever speakers. When they play I hear beauty. I will give updates when they are set up.

Congrats Mikeylee!!
I feel the same, Rockports give me an emotional connection to the music that I've always wanted. Keep me away from the Lyra
