Another twist, as it relates to "you never know," is that my upstairs neighbor hadn't seen me for a bit, even in passing, and was concerned enough to contact FDNY, who broke into the apartment. She and her neighbor were both concerned, in fact. I didn't know I was that popular.
In any case each has volunteered to take turns grocery shopping on my behalf until I'm back on my feet, very nice of them. I got a Trader Joe's "care" package from one of them yesterday already (I've never cooked baby zucchini, but I'd think olive oil, salt, pepper and to cut them up should be plenty). I'm reluctant to ask for help when it's something I'd do for myself usually, but this is not a normal time so I shouldn't be afraid to ask for help. The soups from Trader Joe's were quite good, especially after I snuck some cayenne and cumin in there; they were even better. I have to start cooking soon, probably tomorrow.
