I'm curious. If one uses a power conditioner already, wouldn't that reduce the effectiveness/need for aftermarket cords, at least in theory?

A lot of us have conditioners in the outlet. Look at it like the aftermarket cord will help clean and preserve the clean power from the conditioner over the stock poorly shielded cords..... cables are system dependent, spend the money there first. Also you have to be a little sick to spend more on the cable going to the PPP than the PPP itself, but I have and I am.

I don't think I'm enough of a believer to do that. I don't think .

I've ordered a Shunyata Venom extension cord to connect my conditioner to the wall. I'm still not sure what I'll do about the power cables for the amps. I wish the Venoms were longer, but 5 feet is an average length they decided on; if I reconfigured my system at some point, they might well be too short. The extension is 2m, though, as is the 20A version of the regular Venom.

Maybe a second extension Venom? Or, use the one I ordered to connect an amp to the conditioner and get something else for the conditioner. I will decide something!

I am up in the air about replacing the amps PC's. The amps have a dedicated line and 12 awg stock cords and there own powerconditiner built in them. I am reluctant to try another cable on them because I know me and I would rather spend the money elsewhere. Lucky for me they are 20A connections so I cant use one of the aftermarket cords I already have.

Maybe just go listen to music. That may give some perspective.

I listen to music every night for about 2 hours. I work a lot with no end in site so I need some things to look forward too except for dieing. Life is funny like that. No matter how hard an audiofile tries to just sit back and listen there is always that thought there is something I can do to make this closer to the real thing. Goes back to I know it is a sickness, but there are worse habits. I can only think of a few more expensive habits though.

I didn't have those thoughts much until I got on these A/V forums...

Here is a thought/question (understand, I'm a semi-audiophile).

Since I don't blast my music, thereby calling upon my amps to pull high amounts of power, and since the 14-gauge that came with the amps is sufficient for operation, I wonder if I really need a heavier-gauge cord than that. If anyone wants to try and talk me into something, now's the time .
