Well, this evening, I cancelled the dCS Puccini order and ordered a 4 stack Paganini (DAC, Transport, Master Clock & Upsampler). To power the DAC & CD/SACD I ordered 2 Wireworld Platinum Electra Power Cords, and for the transport of 1's and 0's, 2 Wireworld Platinum AES/EBU cables and 2 Crystal Cable, Dreamline Firewire ((1394)) cables will deliver them.

So, spank me with a hickory stick.

After the beating, I'll be wiping the tears but smiling or snickering inside while standing and listening to the best digital I will ever have the fortune of hearing in my mostest abode.

I can't wait to walk into his store next week and admire the dCS components; especially after seeing the Puccini earlier in the year. The dCS web page does its best but, in person the stack is down right beautiful in CAD construction & shiney silver. Each chassis is an exact replica of the next & thus, a stack is so visually appealing & yells 'play any CD/SACD you wish and sit down and be on the stage.

More to come. My near-term schedule nor his permits a pickup this week nor weekend. Looking at mid-to late next week.

Note to self -- buy a new pen that has enough ink to complete the check writing.

I wish my dealer would have thrown in a HRS rack -- 4 stack dCS weighs (out of the box).......95.6 pounds!!!!!!

Bob
Congrats!! Will you be my new hero?

I have heard the Puccini and the Scarlatti (the latter many, many times) and appreciating dCS over the years had me walking down that path. After hearing the Puccini, with my amps, pre and Elipsa', I was sold right from the starting gate.

For me, the Scarlatti at $85K for the stack is a never gonna happen -- sort of like a 458 Italia. It's nice to dream, but in reality a Scarlatti in my house has the same liklihood as me stumbling on a bag of crisp/bundled hundreds dropped from an armored car.

Alan of Scaena Iso-Linear Array speaker fame always uses the best to demo his gear -- 8 meters of Nordost Odin speaker cables & shorter length power cords & interconnects that are everywhere. His choice for source -- dCS Scarlatti 4 stack.

I love his speakers and whenever he is at a show (like AXPONA) in Jacksonville a few years ago, I lived in that room. The Scarlatti 4 stack is magical and sitting there content as a chilld opening a Ice Cream cone box and eating every one before being caught by mom.

The Scarlatti is no doubt the top dog IMO, but unreachable.

If the Paganini is between the performance of the Puccini and Scarlatti, which I believe it will be, of course, there will be a check mark next to CD/SACD player stipulating it as my last digital source purchase.

Thanks to eveyone & their expressions of congrats.

I can't wait to put AC to it and throw in a disc. Now, the diliema -- what disc?

Bob

Hey Brad -- thanks for the great idea.

In have a poorly recorded CD -- I love the artist, but the CD sucks. Will definitely try it in the dCS and report later.
