Even if I bought from a different dealer, I would still need him for any potential warranty support. He has a rep for being a real P-word to people needing repairs done to their gear. That really worries me.

I got my PrimaLuna (Dialogue Premium, no HP— the HP was just a rumor when I got mine) from Ivan. When you buy from Ivan I don’t think it matters who the distributor is, certainly not in my experience.

I had one contact with Kevin Deal many years ago in connection with an AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 CD player (early Durob Audio brand, now PrimaLuna) and it was dreadful. What a piece of work...

I didn't even notice Ivan was a dealer. That is good to know! I have seen Ivan step up and help someone in the past obtain work on a product from a different company so I think you are definitely right there. Ivan has a special gift for making things happen. I will keep this in mind.

It’s been about 4 months since the PrimaLuna HP arrived. I’ve been listening to it exclusively for the last month on a daily basis. It typically gets about 4-5 hr of play time a day. I have to say that in all the years I’ve been involved with high end audio and all the gear that came and went, the PL HP definitely stands out. I’d say the pinnacle of my high end audio was the Wilson Alexia and D’Agostino Momentum Monos but the PL HP with the Harbeth 30.2 at a mere fraction of the price serenades me with its sweet tube magic and never leaves me wanting something more. Of course I’m still using the stock EL-34 tubes which I find quite musical and enjoyable and I typically use the triode mode which just sounds incredibly musical and engaging but the best is yet to come. Gold Lion KT-77? Perhaps KT-88? The mighty KT-150??? All is possible and the future has lots of potential with power and small signal tube rolling! Extremely pleased with my choice. What an absolute bargain in this crazy hobby of ours.

Serge,

I've got a set of KT150s I've been using off and on in my PrimaLuna HP since November. They are fully broken in. If you'd like to give them a listen, say for a month, shoot me a PM and I'll ship them to you. They are NOT for sale.

Regards,

Bob

Bob, just saw your post. What a generous offer! I am still enjoying the EL34 but when I get the itch to try the more powerful tubes I may reach out to you to see if the offer still stands. Thanks!

That’s pretty cool! On what other site would someone make this kind of offer?!

Audio community alive and well. Solutions great and small are appreciated in context, without prejudice. Nice.

I recently upgraded the stock El34s and 12Au7s in my HP to Gold Lion KT77s and ECC82s--wow, what a difference. The sound is more present and transparent without losing the magical midrange, plus there is a bit less hum.
