Default Speaker Placement Calculators

I've looked at many calculators.
This one gave me a completely unique speaker and listening position.

The improvements, especially in the bass was not subtle. This was confirmed by both my wife and one of my kids who are non audiophiles and do not posses the acute audible training that I, "The Audiophile" have...obviously.

Here's the link. Cut and paste if hyperlink not working.

Interested in your opinions.

It is a great tool, I've seen that before. Problem is that in most cases, for most people, the recommended placement will never work aesthetically unless it is a dedicated room. Speakers do not like to be anywhere near walls, period.

agree Serge, yet we all know the speaker to room interface is one of 'the' most critical things to get right for optimal results, yet more times than not a lot of us settle for second fiddle and fret more over components, cable, etc. I have seen and heard so many compromised systems that 'look purdy' and sound 'decent' but .............

The room modeling functionality built into REW is better if no other reason than it has better graphs of the predicted response and you can 'see' the effect of all speakers in your room. Of course, you can then run the FFT and see what you actually have.

While cool and a good first step, I don't think this tool allows you to see the combined effect - at least, I couldn't figure out how.
