Default Venom HDMI Cables

I just picked up an Oppo UDP-203 to feed my 85” 4K Sony. I noticed that Shunyata has a sale on its Venom HDMI cables. I have a number of other Venoms but only PCs. Does anyone have experience with the Venom HDMI cables they can share?

Thanks

Yes, I have two of them and they are excellent! I use them in my home theatre setup. Very well made, superb value and provide a superior picture/audio quality.

Honestly, I can't say I've ever found anything to fault about ANY of the Shunyata products I've ever bought....they all bring exceptional quality in manufacturing, exemplary performance and superb value for money, regardless of "level".

Highest recommendation.

If going the 4k HDR route use only certified premium cables they have a scanable logo to insure they are such or risk no video. There are some cables that will pass the signal that aren't certified but it can be hit or miss.

HDMI Premium Certified is a program by which one knows that the cable has been verified to pass a 4K HDR video signal, otherwise it is a crap shoot.

The current Venom HDMI is not certified at this time but I have read that Calein is working on it.

Wireworld and Audioquest, to name a few, have certification statements on their websites. Monoprice and BJC also sell Premium Certified cables.

IMO, what HDMI Premium Certified is, is a way for HDMI, LLC, to extort more licensing fees from manufacturers.

Though I believe in your view as well, the fact remains that some HDMI cables are unable to carry the required bandwith for 4k HDR.

I own a Venom HDMI cable and it is great for 1080p but would not work for 4K HDR.

I also own some older higher end Audioquest HDMI cables and though they are not premium certified, they do work.

So as I stated before, buying HDMI cables are a crap shoot these days.

Okay, that's very helpful to know. Thank you!
