That's why I'm asking, do they develop the 800D3 then apply the technology to the 802D3 which would be more affordable to a greater cross section of the BW audiophile community - which would result in more units being sold.
Maybe the 800D3 is the cats meow in the line. Last edited by Indytown; 05-07-2016 at 07:55 PM. |

For 30k it had better be more than a 'meow'........me thinks more like a 'roar' !
regardless, I've yet to hear any B&W speaker that wows me at it's respective price point. |

Grab a set of 802D2s with a nice sub for half the price and bet one couldn't tell them apart in a blind test

At £22500 it's up to Kef Blades price depending on colour, don't know what I would get. Hope they put clips of setup on youtube soon.

The change in their midrange FST driver material I bet has improved the sound. Enough for many of us to be able to tell. I bought my current speaker because I preferred its midrange sound over the 802D2's. And I say that as a lifelong B&W fan, and an owner of a pair of 804s.

Are you absolutely sure? Unless you've done true blind testing you might be completely taken aback at what the reality is. It's a very interesting experience.
Chances of picking out which is which 100% of the time would be very small. Do an ABX test, well... good luck getting to 60% Sometimes even if differences are heard and you are asked to identify the test subject that sounds better, it is not necessarily going to be the one you thought was the better one. This in no way invalidates which you prefer in sighted evaluations because that just goes to show even if you don't think you put a high value on aesthetics we often do. |
