Downton Abbey
Is there anyone here that got hooked on this tv series on PBS? Stacie and I loved it... From the breath taking cinema photography, to the significant historical aspects it covered, and of course the drama between it's characters...
And yes we loved the final episode as well! [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOM3y4P8TEM[/ame] |

Jim, my wife and I absolutely adore this series.
We have all 6 seasons on Blu-ray.

It was a soap opera for adults and was a fun ride for all 6 seasons. Very enjoyable.

I enjoyed the entire run as well. Nothing else like it on TV. What's next?

Been an avid fan of pretty much every series and program run on Masterpiece Theatre (as it used to be called) since I was old enough to watch TV and Downton Abbey was no exception.
My only criticism is that I think the writers veered a bit - from the improbable to wildly fantastical in the final two seasons, especially toward the very end. All the same it was beautifully done with fastidious attention to detail and Maggie Smith's one liners made the show worth watching on that basis alone. Anyone who enjoyed DA, I heartily recommend Upstairs Downstairs on whose model Downton was based. While it does not have the finished gloss of DA, I feel it was at least as well acted with a story line that was overall far more credible, with observation on the human condition a bit more acute and poignant. I was a little kid then, I wanted to watch it downstairs, but my parents sent me upstairs, to bed...

We enjoyed it very much as well, good acting, excellent production and good story lines. It did seem a bit forced the way everything came together so perfectly for all the characters in the last couple of episodes, especially with nasty Barrow suddenly turning into such a likable guy, but still a great series overall and a satisfying ending.

Needless to say, I will be so glad to finally get all those damn actors out of my house.
Six years of cameras, lights, wires, dressing rooms and 52 episodes of Thomas - "Mr" Barrow, were a bit much. I did chase around a bit after Lady Mary, though - man, she was cute! So glad for a little peace and quiet, here in our little chateau. ALONE AT LAST!!!!! And about time!
